The GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible is a terrific book. However, I didn't read it to prepare for the GMAT. I read it to better understand company assessment/evaluation exams. Many companies hire outside firms specializing in assessments (tests), to help evaluate management personnel. Your book helped me become more familiar with these types of corporate exams. Extremely comprehensive but could use more practice questions

This book systematically organizes every GMAT CR question type into "families," with each family possessing its own set of characteristics. Such an organization facilitates a better understanding of each question type because you know what to look for after you finish reading each question. I've gone through the book once already but am going through it one more time to make sure I really absorb the material.

Also, the book actually breaks down the concept of an argument and helps you understand the building blocks of an argument in order to be able to attack any question by following the same rules. There's no discussion of cheap tricks to try to find correct answers. This book is an absolute must if you hope to master critical reasoning on the GMAT. It's especially helpful for people like me who are weak in this part of the verbal section because you are given a step-by-step process for approaching every question. Despite the differences in question types, almost every question can be attacked in a similar manner. So it's good to see a book that focuses on the fundamentals of argumentation.

The only reason I knocked off one star is because this book could use some more practice questions. There are 50 practice questions, but I don't feel like that's enough. This book should be used in conjunction with the Official Guide.

Ultimate Answer to Your Critical Reasoning Needs

==== 2015 UPDATE ====
Powerscore released a new 2015 edition of the book. It has had some updates - several chapters have been completely updated with new overview, examples and new problem sets. Navigation has also been improved. It has grown too by about 70 pages (in part due to having more white space and in part due to content). Not a light book at 370 pages but definitely very very comprehensive overview of pretty much everything. Don't expect to see too much fluff, the book gets right to it. Though after MGMAT has improved their CR book (currently in its 6th edition), I would have given this book 3-4 stars, the latest revision seems to provide a good alternative to the Veritas Prep/MGMAT books.

==== 2009 Review ====
Though pretty similar to Manhattan GMAT book, it offers more practice questions in the book and has a slightly better overview of the Critical Reasoning questions.

~~~ Strengths: ~~~
1. In-depth overview of the Critical Reasoning strategies and approaches to questions
2. Clearly divides the CR question types and provides specific strategy for each type as well as the pitfalls and common errors. You will also get to know how the CR questions are made.
3. Good quality GMAT-like practice questions
4. Created by the authors of the best LSAT books (LSAT logic section is much harder than CR on the GMAT; there is actually a decent amoount of overlap in this book with the LSAT book). Speaking of which, for extra hardcore (and absolutely not necessary but still), you can get the PowerScore LR book (comes with quite a few LSAT questions)

~~~ Weaknesses: ~~~
1. Could use more practice questions (more than mgmat though); you will need to find another source of CR questions such as GMAT Official guide 12 or the verbal supplement to the Official Guide (though the verbal OG has questions on the easier side)
2. Some explanations are too convoluted
3. No tests or online excercises/additional content

~~~~ My Suggestions ~~~~
- Read explanations to every question. Even if you got a question right, it does not mean, you solved it correctly (that is you used the correct approach or found all the shortcusts). You will be surpised sometimes and will pick up helpful tips even from explanations of questions you answered correctly
- Follow the actual strategies (DUH). This is probably the most common mistake people make - they start inventing their own approaches. Don't do it until you have a high verbal score. If you don't, just follow!
- If you don't have any Manhattan GMAT books, you want to get at least one, as each comes with access to 6 online CAT tests (these tests are worth the purchase). There is not a whole lot of value to get both Powerscore CR and MGMAT CR; the content is by large the same.

In Chapter 5, the basic principles of the physical examination are covered, while Chapter 6 places the field of manual therapy within the context of contemporary pain neurosciences and therapeutic neuroscience education.

For the remaining sections, the textbook alternates between the upper and lower quadrants. Sections 2 and 3 provide state-of-the-art updates on mechanical neck pain, whiplash, thoracic outlet syndrome, myelopathy, radiculopathy, peri-partum pelvic pain, joint mobilizations and manipulations and therapeutic exercises, among others. Sections 4 to 9 review pertinent and updated aspects of the shoulder, hip, elbow, knee, the wrist and hand, and finally the ankle and foot. The last two sections of the book are devoted to muscle referred pain and neurodynamics.

Wish I had read it sooner

I had never even heard of Alan Watts until I ran across him on yo(u)tube of all places. I have spent a couple of years trying to sort out my spiritual beliefs and have browsed, read, watched and generally consumed all manner of media in my quest for "enlightenment". I have to say this book wraps all of that up in just a few short pages and has given me a new perspective on life and the struggles we all go through.
If you are struggling trying to make sense of all the differing religions and belief systems out there I encourage you to read this. It breaks things down to the simple core understandings that run through all of them you're probably looking for.

Excellent book by the pioneer in bringing Buddhism to the U.S. This book is very readable and will convince you to follow your bliss. All Ye Lands a wonderful history book for a Catholic homeschool.

I am very impressed with this book.
The chapter that really impressed me is chapter two, pre-history. It is consise & logically presented. This is what scientists say. This is what our faith says. Then examples of why we believe this or that are given, though not in an us verses them or any kind of a debate format. Scientists are not made to look stupid & faith isn't presented as blind. This chapter is very well written. Critical thinking is needed by the reader but I would guess that homeschoolers using this book would have that.
The whole book teaches world cultures through the eyes of a Catholic.

VERY poorly proofread, Milady should be ashamed of their self!!!!!!!

To those who merely buy the book just to "learn to do nails" or whatever reason they have for buying it.. sure, its a GREAT book.. cause they don't know any different. For those of us learning from this book in Nail Tech school.. it has MANYYYYY mistakes including the teacher test answer key & state board exam review book!! It does have beautiful updated pics & terminology, but we have to constantly reference the older version to make sure our answers are correct. So why are there 100 proofreaders when clearly they didn't proofread it very well?!!! Shame on Milady!! Sure hope the State Board answers are correct!! :/ Yes, Milady will be fixing all these mistakes when they reprint them (who knows when that will be), but what about our books that are wrong?! Guess we're the guinea pigs.. haha Unfortunately, my instructor might be using the older version for her next class. She is VERY disappointed in this new book!! (FYI) She has 16 yrs experience!! ;) Have a great day!! ;)

Exellent preperation for state boards

I went to Nail Tech school years ago and never renewed my license, I decided 10 years later to go back and get it, this book was very thorough in preparing me!

Love it and waiting to purchase the new 7th Edition!

I love this book, Miladys has done it again! its very detailed and has made me the successful nail tech I am today. It goes in depth on all of the basic and advanced things there is to know to Nail Technology. I passed my state board exam and practical the first time thanks to the study material at the end of each chapted and doing the activitys in the Activity workbook thats seperate from this book. I recommend it to anyone considering going into the Nail Industry. This book is a MUST HAVE!!! It will prepare you for the real world in the Nail Industry! :)
